For this project we worked with ukactive, a leading charity dedicated to getting more people, more active, more often. The two animations aimed to highlight the role of schools in communities, a vital community hub where people of all aged can come together and enjoy fun, fitness and wellbeing activities. The animation was designed to be upbeat, friendly and easy to understand, ultimately inspiring communities, locl leaders and decision makers in the real value of opening school facilities for all to enjoy.

THE
PROCESS
Our process began with script development, working collaboratively with ukactive to transform two case studies into a compelling storyline suitable for film. From there, we created hand-drawn sketches to map out the narrative through a detailed storyboard. Once the concept was approved, we focused on character development—starting with the protagonist to establish a visual style, then expanding to include over twenty unique characters and more than 100 custom background assets that reflect the community and bring the project to life. Each character was carefully rigged to ensure smooth, expressive movement, helping to animate the story in an engaging way. We also brought in a voice-over artist to narrate the script, paired with lively music to enhance the overall tone. By combining hand-drawn aesthetics with co-developed, digitally animated assets, we created a vibrant, distinctive film that authentically captures and communicates ukactive’s message.
