The Art Doctors are a Leeds-based collective founded in 2015. They believe creativity is good for people’s well-being and they “prescribe” art through playful conversations, creative prompts and consultation. We created their new branding, including a logo and website. The Art Doctors are a playful, creative collective; our branding reflects this sense of fun. It also embraces the medical theme the name suggests, with their signature white Doctor’s coats receiving a rebrand. The resulting brand is simple, bright and engaging.

THE
PROCESS
We collaborated closely with the Art Doctors to understand not just what they do, but why they do it. From the start, it was clear they wanted to communicate a sense of fun, creativity, and openness—appealing to people of all ages and backgrounds.
We began by exploring tone and visual identity, developing several iterations of the logo to ensure it was clear, simple, and visually engaging. Once we landed on the right version, we expanded the brand across the website, focusing on creating an inviting and playful experience.
As the project evolved, it became clear that showing the Art Doctors in action—being creative, curious, and a little chaotic—was essential. We conducted a photoshoot to capture high-quality, candid imagery that reflected their energy and approach. We also broadened the idea of “art” beyond traditional drawing and painting, incorporating references to music, photography, writing, dance, and more.
To reinforce this spirit of playful creativity, we designed bespoke visual assets using hand-drawn elements and subtle animations. One key visual metaphor was slime—used throughout the design to symbolise how art can be messy, fun, and unconstrained. This motif resonated across generations, reinforcing the idea that art isn’t about getting it “right,” but about expression and exploration.
We worked to refine the Art Doctors’ message, helping shape it into something clear, concise, and true to their playful spirit. Short animated versions of the logo were also created for social media to bring the brand to life in new ways. Each step of the site was shaped with thoughtful input from the Art Doctors, resulting in a final version that’s full of personality and purpose.
